The Net-Zero Challenge

We are excited to join the Environment and Climate Change Net-Zero Challenge along with other Canadian businesses working to reduce emissions and slow global warming and the related climate changes we are seeing at home and abroad.
Comeau Comfort Systems are participating in the Government of Canada's Net-Zero Challenge

Comeau Comfort Systems has committed to achieving net-zero Canadian emissions including all business related scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 2030. We are on target to meet this goal!

What is the Net-Zero Challenge?

The Net-Zero Challenge encourages businesses to develop and implement credible and effective plans to transition their facilities and operations to net-zero emissions by 2050. The Government of Canada is committed to reducing Canada’s emissions by 40-45% from 2005 levels by 2030 and putting Canada on a path to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. The Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act establishes in law Canada’s emissions reduction target of net-zero emissions by 2050. To achieve these commitments, the federal government has published an emissions reduction roadmap, the 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan.

Getting Canada to net-zero emissions by 2050 will require collaboration and innovation across all parts of society, including the private sector. Unlocking further emissions reductions and planning now for a net-zero future is essential for Canada to remain competitive in an increasingly low-carbon global economy.

The Net-Zero Challenge takes into account that net-zero planning is an ongoing process and will be different for each participant. It also seeks to align with existing reporting requirements and minimize duplication. The design of the Challenge was informed by consultations with interested partners and stakeholders.

The Challenge aims to build a community of practice around net-zero planning in Canada, where ideas and best practices can be shared, and where participants can collaborate to further their own net-zero plans.
