What exactly is a heat pump and how does it work?

A heat pump is a device that transfers heat rather than generating it. Using refrigerant and electricity, it extracts heat from the air outside and moves it around your home. In warmer months, you can reverse the process to cool your home.

What are the benefits of having a heat pump?

Heat pumps are energy efficient and cost-effective. They use less electricity than other heating methods which means lower energy bills for you and because there are no direct emissions, their lower carbon footprint benefits the environment.

How big a job is it to get a heat pump installed?

It varies depending if you need a centrally ducted or ductless mini-split system but, on average, a residential heat pump install takes no more than three days.

Did I hear that I can get help paying for a heat pump?

Yes! Going green doesn’t have to mean going broke. Both the federal and provincial government offer grants and loans that can help with the cost. We can help you navigate the various options available. We also have a financing partner that can help.

So what’s the first thing I need to do?
